Praying for Ukraine
The morning after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, members of the Lighthouse Community gathered online to pray - and they are still going.
Nearly two years later, they continue to pray for the people and situations in Ukraine, Russia and Belarus, and welcome other who would want to join them.
Kev Reilly shares more:
The morning after the war first started in February 2022, we began our Pray Ukraine & Europe prayer meeting for our friends and their ministry in Uzhgorod, Ukraine. For the next four and a half months, we prayed every morning, seven days a week.
Since August 2022 we have gathered every Tuesday and Wednesday morning to pray for 45 minutes. We use a psalm each time (currently on our second journey through them) to pray from a position of truth and confidence as we ask God:
to end the war in Ukraine and for justice
to move by his Spirit upon people's lives in Ukraine, Russia and Belarus
to move in revival power in these days in a variety of situations across, though we do retain a focus upon Ukraine in praying
to continue to bless and strengthen brothers and sisters in Ukraine, Russia and Belarus, notably our dear friends Edik and Liana in Uzhgorod.
The prayer meeting is on zoom and usually draws 15 or so people, who have become a very committed community over what is now nearly two years of praying together.
Others who have a heart to pray into the ongoing war in Ukraine are welcome to join us - find out how to do that below!
